Some scholars allege that his main objective was to gain unanimous approval and submission to his authority from all classes, and therefore he chose Christianity to conduct his political propaganda, believing that it was the most appropriate religion that could fit with the imperial cult. If the Shoe Fits gives her a starring role, and I didn’t realise how much she deserved it. I loved how much she loves her sister, though, and her friendship with Bec, among other things. While I could empathize with her frustration, I didn’t like that she added to Rebecca’s burden. Like other readers, I resented Jana a little in Ask Me Again for her misdirected anger at Bec. Also, even though this is Jana’s story, Sabine and Bec are more than minor characters in this instalment. If you haven’t already, do yourself a favour and read the first two books, they’re some of the best I’ve read in years. If the Shoe Fits can be read as a standalone, but don’t. Enter Brooke Donnelly, the woman she didn’t know she needed in her life. Falling (literally and figuratively) for a woman has never been her plan, not only because she doesn’t want to walk in her sister Sabine’s footsteps as far as her love life is concerned. She’s turned not-committing into an art, blaming her career as a successful divorce lawyer for her lack of time and interest. Jana Fleischer is a serial dater trying to find the perfect guy, the one whose little quirks won’t annoy her so much. 5/30/2023 0 Comments Meg medina merci suarezWhether Merci is facing school drama or changing family dynamics, readers will empathize as she discovers who she can count on-and what can change in an instant-in Meg Medina’s heartfelt conclusion to the trilogy that began with the Newbery Medal–winning novel. She “can tell he is revising me in his head.” Later, Eric breaks one of Rebecca’s rules by inviting Edie to their house. The book, which has caught the eye of writers like Justin Torres, Brit Bennett, and Zadie Smith, speaks to Audre Lorde’s essay, “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action.” In it, Lorde states, “Black women have on one hand always been highly visible, and so, on the other hand, have been rendered invisible through the depersonalization of racism.” In gut-wrenching and masterful prose, Leilani’s novel demonstrates the validity of Lorde’s quotation through the character of Edie. Raven Leilani’s Luster paints a portrait of a Black woman attempting to make space for herself and her art in white America. 5/29/2023 0 Comments Blood kiss jr ward hardcoverCraeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.Īnd that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate.
